PARK IN PREŠOV

competition entry 2025

in collaboration with Ing. Lýdia Bačová; Ing. Zuzana Korpášová; Ing. Katarína Štrbová

The central idea behind the design is connection – with the city, with nature, and between people. The aim is to transform a neglected park into a vibrant and modern space where the community, greenery and urban life naturally intertwine. The design respectfully preserves the original vegetation and the historical context of the site, whilst responding to the need for a logical and inclusive solution.

The park forum by the main entrance from Masarykova Street is becoming a hub for social life – a venue for concerts, exhibitions and community events. Adjacent to this is a co-working zone with a relaxation area called ‘Swings Without Borders’. In the central part of the park there are perennial flowerbeds, picnic areas, sun loungers, an educational zone and workout equipment. The lower zone, featuring the Fountain of the Senses, offers a space for children to play with water and relax. The park is complemented by a linear structure housing a bistro, facilities and a pergola, which together create a safe and pleasant environment for everyone.

The functional layout of the park is designed to offer a balanced combination of active and passive recreation. The site is divided into three basic functional zones, which interlink active and passive relaxation, social activities, quiet areas and play areas. The design creates a harmonious environment for all age groups and social categories. It encourages a variety of leisure activities.
