LIBRARY ČESKÁ LÍPA

The Library building in Česká Lípa tries to be a kind of city of books. The effort to fit the objects architecturally and urbanistically into the existing development and at the same time the effort to imbue the building with a contemporary character led us to a solution that corresponds to the scale of the surrounding development, but at the same time does not try to imitate it with its form and expression. The division of a fairly large program into several masses that are interconnected and function so effectively as a single unit, yet at the same time allows each of the volumes to sit in height at slightly different levels. This creates a seemingly complicated, but from our point of view, an adequate architectural ensemble which, among other things, provides a large number of spatially interesting and pleasant places for reading .. work .. study.
